Handlers and dogs interested in volunteering with our Program must:
- Be willing to complete (and maintain every three years) a Criminal Record Check;
- Be at least one year of age, ideally two years of age (the age of maturity);
- Be in a permanent home for at least six months;
- Have current (and will maintain) up to date vaccination records;
- Not eat a raw food diet;
- Not be a restricted breed as defined by legislation in the province/territory or municipality where they will participate in the Program; and
- Successfully pass the Therapy Dog Evaluation
Please note that licensed Service Dogs and identified Emotional Support Animals are not eligible for admission to the Program.
