Cardiac Science has a special set of pads that provide feedback for rescuers performing CPR.  This is called the Intellisense CPR Feedback pads or the iCPR Feedback pads.

There are two packages with the pads.  The first package (white colour) contains the AED pads and the second package (green colour) contains the CPR feedback device (which looks like a puck for an air hockey table).

The rescuer would apply the AED pads as per instructions from the AED device.  When it is time to start CPR, the AED device will tell the rescuer to apply the CPR feedback device.  The rescuer will put the heel of their hands on top of the CPR device and perform CPR compression.

The CPR feedback does the following things:

  • measure how deep the compression are:  if these are not deep enough, the AED will instruct the rescuer to press harder; or if these are too deep, to press lighter.
  • measure how fast the compression are:  if the rescuer is compressing to fast, the AED will instruct the rescuer to slow down; or if the rescuer is compressing too fast, the AED will instruct the rescuer to slow down.

The pads and the CPR feedback device cannot be reused.  That is after the rescue is completed and the pads have been detached from the casualty's chest, you will have to use a new set of CPR Feedback pads for the next rescue.
