Electrodes and pads refer to the same thing. They're the ends of the AED cable that adheres to the casualty so that the AED device can check and analyze the casualty's heart rhythm and apply a shock to the casualty if needed.

Physio-Control tends to use the term, "electrodes" and the other manufacturers use the term, "pads".
